There was a time when weddings went by the book. Everything about the wedding was predictable and really not so unique. In recent times it has been anything but predictable.

When my daughter was married in 2010, she decided there wouldn't be a wedding cake. No cake? Really? Yes, really and the wedding was one of the most beautiful weddings I've ever attended (I say that without bias, of course).

Wedding cakes are just the tip of the iceberg. More and more I get totally unexpected requests from my wedding clients. No head table for the bride and groom? No problem. Food trucks instead of dinner plates? Why not!

If you are planning your upcoming wedding, don't be afraid to think outside of the box.
Don't want the wedding party all dressed alike?  Face it, some styles flatter some figures better than others, so why not let the bridesmaids or ushers choose their own style? Within reason of course! Guide them with colors, fabrics, etc. (Remember you will be showing your wedding pictures to your grandchildren! We wouldn't want them to wonder what Grandma and Gramps were thinking!!)

Want to serve spaghetti and meatballs because it is your favorite meal of all? Do it family style and let everyone serve themselves!

Picnics, Barbecues, Farm-to-Table dinners in a field are all replacing the more traditional dinner in a tent or hall, and can be so much more reflective of your style. In the end, guests will remember the personal touch long after the flowers and music. Go for it!
